The School of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of the Witwatersrand is delighted to host the Annual Conference of the South African Statistical Association (SASA) between 23 and 27 November 2026. The conference will bring together statisticians from across South Africa and beyond for a vibrant, in-person gathering focused on statistical theory, multivariate analysis, Bayesian statistics, biostatistics, statistical machine learning, and related areas.
Preceding the main conference, a series of insightful workshops will offer hands-on engagement and skills development, while an exciting line-up of national and international speakers will provide global perspectives on contemporary statistical research and practice.
We look forward to a meaningful opportunity to network, exchange ideas, and advance the statistical community, spanning postgraduate students, early career researchers, established academics, and industry practitioners.
The conference will be held at the Birchwood Hotel & OR Tambo Conference Centre, one of Johannesburg’s premier conference facilities, conveniently located near OR Tambo International Airport.
